I looked at some of the rope and medicine ball combos and thought them too expensive. I thought about simply using a towel and a lighter kettlebell I already own, but figured I would at some point hit and break something. This bag for around 20 bucks seemed like a great alternative. It is well built and I am using it with a 10lb med ball. It does work the shoulder and core in a slightly different manner then anything else I have. Not to the point I would rave about what it does but it is a nice choice to have when working out.

Only draw back is that when holding the rope with two hands and swinging the ball, the rope exerts enough pressure to force the fingers together to the point they start to hurt quite a bit. I usually end up just using two fingers from each hand to try and cut down on the pinching. I can see where a handle type hold would eliminate this. That being said the med-balls with the ropes thru them and handles still seem to expensive for what you can do with them and for the significant cost savings (especially if you already have some med balls) this is not a bad way to go.
