First off - I own more than 2 dozen Invicta watches - I'm a bit of a watch hound and like the styling of most of Invicta's big, bold designs. This model (0477) actually has a black mother of pearl dial face not apparent from the stock photos on the web. The hands are contrasting silver (probably stainless) with a fairly generous amount of luminescence material applied to them the hour markers and aribic numerals are coated with a bright green (almost kelly green) lume treatment and once charged in sun light they glow for a reasonable time at a reasonable brightness - they'll (IMO) never compare to Seiko dive watches or other brands known for their lume. Since this is a 200M water resist time piece it's safe to assume you could wear this skin or SCUBA diving - the crown is a "canteen" style cover with a hinged retainer (not chain as on other Russian Diver models) - interestingly most of Invicta's Russian Diver models are 100M or less - not a professional dive watch but most folks (including myself) won't go beyond splashing around a few feet below the surface but it's always nice (and I tend to stay in the 200M WR level for watches in my collection). This watch is larger than it may appear in the pics - I'll post some so you can get some idea of scale - the width of the dial (even without the pushers and crown) rivals even the gen 1 venoms in my collection although the overall thickness and "bulk" of the watch is no where close to a full size venom on a bracelet. The bracelet on this watch is nice as far as comfort but also where my only two "nits" come in. The first downside isn't with the bracelet design specific to this model but the dual deploy-ant/ clasp style since this does not have micro adjustments as with a folding clasp or scissor style clasp you are only granted links to remove. Most people wear these watches loosely (as I do) so it's not a deal breaker and if the correct side is sized the timepiece will probably fall on the wrist nicely - not a big deal. The other "nit" is around the bracelet construction itself. Again probably not entirely unique to this model is the use of screws for the band links - other bracelets (such as ceramic ones) use this style of dual screw type link fasteners. Generally this isn't a problem but for whatever reason there does not seem to be any thread lock/seal on the 2 parts of the screw/pins. A little locktite could (and is for me) be used to keep the screws from loosening. Other Invictas that use this link system seem to be very tight but this is the first bracelet for me that uses this with the thermal-resin and stainless links. Typically you'll either need a second 1MM screwdriver held in a vice or a partner to hold it down while sizing - this bracelet was loose enough to size on my own.

The movement is a Ronda swiss parts - though the watch is assembled someplace else so it doesn't qualify for "Swiss Made" - it's also not marked as such - just "Swiss Parts Movement" on the case back. the bezel is unidirectional not too sure if it's 120 clicks but is pretty precise and doesn't make any strange noises or too tight / too loose. The edge of the bezel is machined to allow for easy rotating - it's "sharp" enough to work with gloves (i.e. not smooth like the non-coin edge pro-diver bezels). The function pushers aren't screw down - you have to use some bit of effort to start/stop/reset the chrono which is fine - it won't start unintentionally. The second hand did not require zeroing (I've had other reserve level Invictas that required zeroing with the same movement) - overall I think quality control on this series of watches seems to be quite good. The sub-dial layout is typical for the larger faced invictas with quartz movements although some newer models feature a constantly running second hand instead of this movements 3 o'clock subdial for seconds, 1/10th of a second "fast runner" at the six, and 30 minute "totalizer" at the 9 o'clock position. All are pretty easy to read (even with pretty bad eyesight) - the hour and minute hands are not "skeletonized" so they may obscure portions of the subdials. The black mother of pearl does not take any "macho" out of the watch - depending on how the light hits the watch face you may not even notice the MOP - when you do see it it's pretty cool (I think) and adds a little dive watch "cred". The material is very high quality too - don't know if it's "grade-A" or not but I can't find and flaws in it.

For Invicta enthusiasts this model will feel light on the wrist - for someone new to the brand it might be worth checking one out at a retail store first to see if you are OK with the size/weight or take a risk and order one to see.

All in all I love this watch even with the 2 "nits" and those are resolvable or can be overlooked/lived with. If Invicta had chosen to add some threadlock on the bracelet screws and produced this in Switzerland I would have no problem in giving this a full five stars. One other possible improvement may have been to go with all stainless and used ion-plating for the bracelet links - that would have no doubt added to the cost but probably been more of the Reserve or Signature level.
