As an aquatic exercise instructor, I was delighted to see the Ergobells because they are much easier to grip than the Speedo barbell buoys. Many people have a tendency to grip hand buoys tightly, which can actually cause a spike in their blood pressure as well as hand fatigue. Since the Ergobells are designed to slip the hand through, they don't have to be gripped tightly. They have slightly less buoyancy than the round dumbell-shaped buoys, and the more fit participants in my boot camps and advanced classes shun them, thinking they're too "easy," but they provide a good workout with better hand and wrist positioning. Although they are a few dollars more expensive, they are almost indestructible, unlike the bouys, which often lose or break their endcaps.
