I'm a fairly healthy 52 year old male trying to stay active, strong and flexible. I've had the SkiErg for a couple of months now, although it's not my first Concept2 product. I bought their rower previously and was very impressed with its design, construction and durability. However, I have a problem with shoulder impingement that rowing worsened. I'd been through physical therapy for it and if I'm very conscientious about my home therapy sessions it doesn't bother me, but I had a problem keeping up with the daily boring grind of the therapy.

So, I decided to give the SkiErg a shot - very happy with the result; in fact I wish I'd bought it first, though I'm not sure it was then available. One thing that makes planning and achieving therapy and exercise goals so easy is the monitor. Before long I figured out exactly what pace and intervals I needed to warm up, work out to heart rate targets, then cool down. The unit takes up virtually no room if mounted to the wall (roughly two feet of clear wall space with about four feet of room in front it it for the user) and is always ready to go at a moment's notice. There's nothing to boot up or turn on, just start pulling on the handles and the monitor turns on and starts tracking your workout. In just a few sessions you'll know exactly how to plan your fitness progress.

I've found that using the SkiErg has essentially resolved my impingement problem, on top of the EXCELLENT cardio workout it provides with minimal stress on joints.
