GYROKINESIS® Breathing Program Short Version with Wave Series Standing Review

The short breathing program only takes about 10 minutes to do, but is excellent for stretching and toning the upper body while expanding the breath. It brings movement into harmony with breathing which is essential for overall well-being. It is so simple and short, that I never quite get over the surprise I feel at how at its effects of simultaneous relaxation and invigoration. The only thing I don't like about this section is that there is not quite enough explanation of some quick breath work done in certain parts, but in the interview section at the end, Juliu Horvath explains that you really need to go study with a teacher and just use the DVD for follow up at home. I find it a much bigger problem when "exercise" videos are so slow and pedantic that once I've been through them a couple of times I can't use them any more because of all the agonizing instruction.

I have watched the complete wave section of the DVD and tried parts of it. I can't fully participate in it because I'm recovering from knee surgery and can't yet stand without some support. From watching, and from the bit I've tried, I am confident that I will like it once I can do it in a standing position. It is much like the seated breath work, but expanded to integrate the full body in a physically natural manner. I am really looking forward to adding this segment of the DVD to my Gyrokinesis.

The interview segment with Juliu Horvath is worth watching - more than once. I didn't catch every word the first time through because of his quiet voice and accented English. Yet even on first viewing I learned from him. He is not a salesman - he is a practitioner of a discipline. When I have the opportunity I am going to follow his suggestion and take a lesson from a Gyrokinesis teacher - even though I would have to travel to another city several hours away to do so. He is inspiring.
