While standard tricep bars space the hand grips at about 6"1/2, this bar's grips are spaced apart about 4". I noticed right away how heavy and solid this baby was when I pulled it out of the box. Unlike my larger hollow tricep bar. In fact I thought maybe there are people out there who can get a good workout with the bar alone. I started it off by adding 15 lbs. per side for a total of 43 lbs. The description claims the bar is 13lbs. But I quickly adapted to that amount and going to put on some more. I also like the way it keeps your arms close to each other. I'll let you know when I return whether if it's the bar or me that can't take too much more weight.
